ABOUT ME
I've always enjoyed cycling, but from the age of 21 through the 37 my cycling dropped off and I grew lazy... Then in May 2017 one of my brothers suggested riding the Dunwich Dynamo, a night ride from Hackney through the the Dunwich in the Suffolk coast.
I loved it, it was a great atmosphere and despite wearing a £15 set of bib shorts I'd bought from China, I wasn't in too much discomfort at the end of it. Living in Macclesfield, Cheshire and working in Manchester I always thought that a cycle commute in might be a little to far, but when the train fares increased yet again and constant roadworks meaning I had to set off earlier and earlier I decided to bite the bullet and give it ago. 1 hour 10 minutes to get in and 1 hour 20 minutes to get home, OK so I have to traverse the A6 but door to door it takes just about as long and I've not fallen out of it yet. Work permitting I'm hoping to cycle throughout the year and to rack up around 5,000 mile/ 8,000 km in 2018 so this blog is going to sort of follow that progress, what it takes to keep me rolling, stopping and warm in the winter. Low budget lights and shorts to some more pricey items, but I ride to a budget so they'll be know Rapha or Assos here, unless they send me some freebies ;-)
